Whoops Apocalypse

Maguadoran troops attack British Santa Maya. This government building location is actually ‘The Royal Ballet School (White Lodge), Richmond TW10 5HR. This seems to have been filmed at the rear of the building.

Site visitor John Harwood has supplied this nice updated daytime shot of the Royal Ballet School. John also notes that a high hedge and railings surrounding the area make getting clear shots quite tricky.

A phone call is made to the government building. This is the 'Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office' on King Charles Street, London, SW1A 2AH.

The funeral parade of President Burlap. It was originally unclear where this was filmed. Possibly a London street or a set were proposed. But site visitor Alan Bourke seems to have cracked it, as he identified the store in the background as being a branch of Speedy Printing, which means it's the USA. It looks to be outside the Ingraham Building at 25 Southeast 2nd Avenue, Miami, Florida.

The presidents funeral coffin carriers walk through what seems to be Miami City Cemetery, 1800 NE 2nd Ave, Miami, FL 33132, United States.

House of Commons reaction as government debate the invasion. This is of course the Elizabeth Tower and the Parliamentary building in central London filmed from what seems to the corner of Parliament Square and Great George Street.

Car carrying the new President Barbara Adams (Loretta Swit) to see former President Preston at a prison camp. This gate area is currently unidentified.

Richard Milhouse Wanger a.k.a. 'Lacrobat' (Michael Richards) rolls his merchandise into the Florida hotel where the peace negotiations are being held. Currently this exact location is unidentified.

Dickie (Tristram Jellinek) calls in at his partners house to give him some unfortunate military news. This house is currently unidentified.

British troops are boarding the ship in preparation to defend British interests overseas. Dickie drives the white car to deliver partner Rear Admiral Bendish (Ian Richardson) to the ship. The location used here is currently unidentified.

President Barbara Adams arrives in Jacksonville, Florida by helicopter. Steve Randall pointed out correctly that this location is actually at the Miami Art Museum, housed in buildings that now form the HistoryMiami Museum at 101 W Flagler St, Miami, FL 33130, USA.

The British task force arrives in Santa Maya and takes back their territory, including the governmental building which is now shown in the daylight is clearly the ‘The Royal Ballet School (White Lodge), Richmond TW10 5HR. This sequence seems to have been filmed at the rear of the complex.

Another shot by John Harwood and although it does not match the same angle used in the movie, John notes that the security at the facility is very tight and there are very few gaps in the fence. That along with the additional hedge growth would make matching the film shot extremely difficult.

British Prime Minister Sir Mortimer Chris (Peter Cook) is involved with his 'Jumping For Britain' in an attempt to free up more jobs for the country. This is Beachy Head cliffs near Eastbourne, East Sussex on the south coast of the UK.

Richard Bennett managed to catch Beachy Head in lovely bright weather.

The two dumped members of the press Thrush (Ian McNeice) and Gallagher (Christopher Malcolm) walk along the beach of the island they were dumped on.

They stumble upon across a currently unidentified hotel.

Following a bathing 'accident' an ambulance taking the Prime Minister to hospital turns from Whitehall Place, SW1 onto Whitehall in central London. You can see part of Nelson's Column at the top of the frame.

A damp junction with the column also visible to the north. SJ

The search is on for a kidnapped member of the Royal Family and also the elusive 'Lacrobat'. He drives along a currently unidentified road.....

…and then tries to sell his sex toys outside at a currently unidentified spot.

The SAS units are called out to storm London's Wax Museum in search of Lacrobat. First they smash through a three wheeled Invacar. Geoff Dodd identifies the scene of the accident as Warwick Avenue W9 looking west across to Sutherland Avenue. (RL)

.....before they turn from Cleveland Terrace onto Westbourne Terrace, London W2.

In this updated location shot by Richard Bennett, it shows how much tree growth has changed the view.

Further into their journey they head along another road. Website visitor Richard Bennett seems to have correctly identified this as being a section of Harrow Road that runs alongside the Westway & also adjacent to Westbourne Green. The van is heading East. The high-rise building would be located on Bourne Terrace.

This updated location shot by site visitor Richard Bennett shows a big change. He notes that the original view is now largely obscured by trees. The tower in the original capture (partly obscured by the newer tower, Torquay House) is Brinklow House. Part of Polesworth House can be seen behind it in the original capture. Brinklow House is on Torquay Street (Westbourne Terrace to the west of Harrow Road).

.......and pull up outside what is supposed to be the London Wax Museum. This looks likely to have been on a studio set.

The British Prime Minister is working his way around London giving out his 'bomb proof umbrellas'. Our reliable Phil Wilkinson spotted that this is Imperial Square at Sands End in Fulham SW6. He also notes that the gasometers at the works can be seen in 'The Touchables', 'Final Appointment' and 'Eye of the Needle', but whether they're the same exact one as in this shot is unclear.

Looking south from about no.10 towards no.1 at the far end of Imperial Square. This particular gasometer, visible, full, in the far background of Eye of the Needle cap17, has been removed and built over, as has the one south of it, which, as no.2 gasometer, is Grade II* listed and so is intended to be resited in the planned park.
