Dawn breaks in Liverpool as Old Fred escapes from Pepperland after a surprise attack by Blue Meanies. Although this production is an animation, several real Liverpool locations are featured within collages as the Yellow Submarine heads for the Earth's surface.

To the tune of Eleanor Rigby, the Yellow Submarine passes all the lonely people. To the left of centre stands The Flat Iron public house at the junction of St. James Place and Mill Street in Toxteth, Liverpool 8 and Nick Coats advises that the dolphin decorated lamp-posts stand outside St. George’s Hall at the top of Lime Street in L1 as well as outside the museums in William Brown Street L3.
