Room At The Top – More Location Detail

Alan Thompson has kindly agreed to share more information, detail and photographs in his possession regarding Captures 13 to 16

Alan used to live in the terraced streets on the left of the above photograph. The unmade portion of Brownroyd Street runs bottom off center right, up to left top. Clearly can be seen the bridge over the railway entering City Rd Goods depot. All the film action took place with the actors walking off the bridge into the unmade road. All the equipment and vehicles were on the unmade road to the south of the bridge or towards the bottom of the picture outside the school.

In this Google Earth image of the same area, from a similarly angled view, can be seen running bottom right to left upper is the remains of Brownroyd Street, and the bridge can just be seen by the builders earth ramp. The silver blue/grey roofed warehouse running left to right at the top is on the site of the goods depot and the dark grey/light grey roofed engineering works, central, is on the greyhound stadium site. Across the top of the picture, left to right is Thornton Road.

The photo is taken from the top of the local mill building, looking down on the school. To the middle right can be seen more clearly the green wooden gates of the stadium that were used in the film.
