The International Film Festival Emden-Norderney, Germany is one of the major film festivals in Lower Saxony and a hallmark of the region’s media landscape. Amongst this years screenings is The Riddle of the Sands (1979) to be seen on the 6th and 7th June next, particularly interesting because it is the area in which filming took place and where, we are told, this feature film has been nearly forgotten, until now.
